Thoughts on my breast augmentation surgery

How the Time Flies...

Well, it has been three months since my surgery and I can hardly believe it. This week I have spent some time reflecting on all of the events that have occurred since then... Holy moly, a lot sure does happen in a tiny bit of time. I feel great! I had my final doctor's visit this week, until further notice. It went expectedly well. Dr. Galante was very pleased with my outcome. He said my breasts look completely natural and perfect. This was no exaggeration either, the girls are even beginning to feel natural as well. Earlier today I took a peek at my before photos... Boy was that frightening, it is so crazy that I cannot even imagine myself without them now. That was, until I saw the evidence! Yikes.

There is one thing that I would like to mention and that is the fact that my scars have now become more visible. Several weeks back I know I sort of went off on some tangent about how fabulous they had turned out... Do not get me wrong, a scar is a scar and it was to be expected. I think I spoke a tad too soon, though. Now that my breasts have begun to settle, if you will, the scars are no longer located exactly in the crease under each breast. I suppose this is due to the decrease in swelling? The other noticeable difference is that the scars have become more prominent, meaning they are darker and raised from the skin.

Dr. Galante recommended I use cream or some sort of tape to decrease the visibility. Since our last meeting I have been applying Mederma on each of them. The directions state that one should apply the treatment 3-4 times daily for eight weeks. I'll keep ya posted on the outcome. Oh, how time flies. =)

Thanks - you do seem to be an inspiration. I am four days post op, and I never imagined it would be as painful as it is. Not only do I have the incision scars that are healing, but the place where my drains were are also very painful. It is reassuring to read about similar symptoms, such as he burning sensation that I happen to have from time to time.
It was very helpful to read your blog.Thanks.

Hi there, Your blog has been helpful. I am 2 weeks out from surgery. I was wondering if you could answer a couple questions
1- how many cc's are your implants and are they saline or silicone?
2- I like to run- not really long distances but do like to train for a couple half's each year. Do you know if running puts you at higher risk for a leak? I've asked my nurse and she's said no but I am still nervous about that.
Thanks so much! San Antonio, TX

Sabrina, your blog is neat. It inspired me to start one of my own to hopefully help other woman with questions.

I'm having my surgery in 7 days! I'm very excited!

Sometimes the problem with scars are that they are exposed to uv rays..even through clothes or a bathing suit. You should always apply sunscreen to the area initially under your clothes to prevent darkening of the scar.

The worst thing a person can do is go booth tanning too soon afterwards. The biggest thing is to use sunscreen on the area for the first few months atleast.

hi sabrina, wow your such an inspiration. how can i start something just like this, to also answer and share my experience and symtoms with other ba buddies?

its been 17 days since my ba, after babies, breast feeding and pumping. i wanted to improve my boobs.

i choose 375cc silicon, my ps implanted 475cc, smooth, round, through the areola and sandwiched inbetween my my muscles.

i'm still very sore, in pain, hard, my muscles between my shoulders are so painful, im not sure if my sternum or the center of my chest is so tight, full of pressure to sneeze or cough. in the morning i wake up fearing my rigs will crack/cave in.

is this normal, did you experience this, when can i see a better light, i share this with my ps, she says im fine and its normal and offer muscle relaxers, what do you think? hey i also used to run 3 miles daily before ba and now i'm barely able to walk two laps, what can you enlighten me about that.?

HI Sabrina :)

Like everyone else who has commented, I just wanted to thank you for you honesty.

I'm 4 days post op (400cc left, 450cc right, sub-mus, nip incision) I feel great! The breast with the larger implant is still .. funny. I can tell it's larger, or rather, my body can. I can feel it in there!!!

I was really fraked out at first as the swelling made me look HUGE, but my body is starting to heal (and itch!) And I am so happy with the outcome :) WOOHOO!

My questions for you .. I am A LOT more comfortable without the surgical bra. I just had it off for a couple hours, but am back in it now. How soon is too soon to go without the bra? And, my lower abdomen swelled up, I normally have a nice, tight six pack ab thing going on, but this is not normal. I've been drinking tons of water and tea and using arnica and some other anit-swelling herbs plus ice .. have you heard of this or did you experiance it? I can believe 3 days of being a couch potato has plumped out my belly.

Anyhow, great blog! Great boobs!!

Thanks,
wendy
