My Breast Implant Surgery Blog

2 Weeks PO

2 weeks have passed since my surgery and I can't believe I'm basically back to normal. I don't have any pain, sometimes discomfort but nothing a couple of Advil here and there can't handle. There is a heaviness feeling each morning when I wake up but that goes away once I start moving around. My nipples are very sensitive when I take off the surgical bra, something slightly touching them can make them sting for awhile. I'm hoping that sensation goes away in time. All of this is nothing I can't handle, just some getting used to.

Last night I finally reduced the pillows I use to sleep and almost kind of slept on my side. I never thought I'd be able to sleep on my back and truthfully I've had no problem. I was waking up with back pains every morning from sliding down the pillows at night and sleeping in awkward positions, hopefully once I'm sleeping fully flat, that will no longer happen.

I have never had great posture before my surgery and notice now that my back does hurt more often during the day. I'm really trying to be conscious about my posture and stand up straight, the extra weight doesn't help but it's either good posture or back pain!

All of this is new and it takes some readjusting and getting used to. For some reason I do tire much easier than before, hence my sleeping well on my back! I even have to nap during the day sometimes, which I've never done before!

I am thrilled with my results thus far - my right side seems to be a bit more swollen still than the left but all in all they look great. I saw Dr. Pousti last Monday and he showed me the massaging exercises, he said to be doing them for about an hour each day - I am having trouble finding that much time to do them but squeeze it in whereever I can. Late next week, he told me I could take the bra off for a few hours at a time, but put it back on afterwards. I am tired of the surgical bra/strap. I only have about 5 shirts/hoodies I can wear and it's getting frustrating wearing the same thing over and over. I'm sure people I see on a day to day basis are wondering why I am always wearing the same thing! Probably not, but it's still annoying when you have a closet full of clothes!

Hi Nikki,
Unfortunately I find it difficult to schedule time to go back to visit Dr. Pousti but I am hoping to make it to my second post op appt tomorrow. I had a friend who recently had a BA and her doc told her it was ok to put vitamin E oil or scar therapy patches on her incisions, so I started to put the oil on a little bit each day. I guess some swear by it and some dont but it seems to make my scabs softer and help them to peel off better (i know sounds gross but true). I am very anxious to see Dr. Pousti and hope he tells me I am healing well. At this point I have no pain only soreness in the mornings. The strap is difficult to hide and I also have trouble finding shirts to wear but I hope he will tell me I can stop wearing it at the four week point instead of 6! take care :)
