Sharing my thoughts on my breast implant surgery.

Scar tissue?

So the other day I was doing my massages and noticed that there is a hard spot on my right breast right at the incision. I had my boyfriend feel it to make sure I just wasnt crazy and sure enough there is a about a half inch of hard scar tissue under the incision. I was nervous that it would just keep getting bigger but since discovering it I have been massaging like a maniac! and it has gone down a little. Its not visable and unless I pointed it out and had you feel it you wouldnt even know it was there. But with every thing that could go wrong regarding scar tissue I am not taking any more chances! I went out to a halloween party last weekend in a skimpy costume and loved the attention I got from the boob job, everytime I turned around there was someone taking my picture and I had people coming up to me asking to get a picture with me.... it was strange at first but I got used to it fast lol. My boyfriend I could tell was very proud and instead of being self concious in my costume I had confidence in it! I have never had that before. I know that its not all the boobs but that just made the rest of me feel more in proportion. I am loving my body flaws and all!

5 Weeks post op

Its been 5 weeks since my BA and I feel 100 % back to normal. I am completely out of the bra and dont even wear it at night which makes it much eaiser to sleep! I still cant sleep on my stomach and when I wake up in the middle of the night and find myself on my stomach my breasts hurt for a while, so I dont think I will be sleeping like that anytime soon. Everyday they look more and more normal and if they didnt drop anymore I would be happy with it though to look "natural" (i use the term losely) they do need about half an inch or inch to go. I have gone out and seen some friends and they all cant believe how good they look. I joke that new fake boobs are kinda like a pregnant belly, everyone wants to see and feel them lol. I am proud of my decision to have the BA and just wish I had done it sooner! At first I was nervous that they were too big (I did have 616 cc's put in!) but I have since gotten used to the size and sometimes think I could have gone a little bigger! My boyfriend is loving it and even though I have talked about nothing but boobs for the last few months he has been there every step of the way! My six year old son knows that I had to go to the doctor and had something done in that area, but as of yet has said nothing about the new size which I am grateful cause I dont want to have to explain that quite yet.

Uneven?

For about the past week or so I have been extremely worried about the symmetry of my new boobs. When I was massaging them a week ago I noticed that one was slightly bigger than the other, my left boob just seemed a tad bit fuller.... It was driving me crazy, I kept hoping it would go away. Even though no one could really notice it except me I didnt pay all that money to not be completly happy with the results. Last night it seemed to even out and I suppose that the left boob was just healing a little slower and stayed swollen for longer. I think the hardest part is I only have an idea of what the end results will be, I get worried that they will stay as high as they are now but I have to remember that healing is a process and it dosent happen overnight. Its hard since I feel totally back to normal and really dont see a difference in the day to day differences. I have decided to take pics every other day so I will be able to see what is happening and if these massages are working. It has been hard to remember to take pics, I have a very demanding job that wipes me out by the end of the day, and two kids at home to take care of, but for my piece of mind I need to find the time. So hopefully I will have some progress pics up tomorrow :)

Unstrapped and set free!!!

I had my second post op appointment last night and I was extremely happy that Dr. Pousti said I can now burn that ugly bra!!! I thought that I would at least have to wear it for another week, but was pleasently suprised when they told me I can wear regular bras as long as I keep up with the massages and dont wear an underwire bra just yet. I never thought it would be so hard to find a bra in my new larger size but so far I have only found one non-underwire bra. My incisions are almost comepletely healed just a tiny bit of scab left on each side but i think that will be gone in a few days. I had been putting vitimin E oil on but asked the Dr yesterday if this was ok and he said as soon as the scabs go away completely I can start that up again. Dr. Pousti was very happy with the size and symmetry of my new boobs which was great to hear! I dont go back to see the Dr for another month! I am ok with that since I have had an amazingly smooth recovery, I plan on starting to excersize again this weekend but will start off slow so I dont overdo it. I am now able to comfortably sleep on my side and cant wait till I can go back to sleeping on my stomach, sleeping on my back is very hard for me. My nipples are VERY sensitive and I hope that goes away soon, but I suppose thats better than losing sensation like a friend of mine had with a Dr that was not very experienced, she is actually completly numb in one side and she had her BA over three years ago! I am very happy that I found Dr. Pousti and would reccommend him to anyone!

Two weeks

Yesterday was the first day I felt back to normal, It was great to be able to go home and actually have some energy left after working all day to spend time with my family. Everyday my new boobs look more and more "normal". I have been putting vitamin E oil on the incisions and I can already tell that it is helping. The surgical bra is very annoying now and I cant wait till the end of the month when I can be done with it, but at the same time I can't imagine not having the support from it. I have only gone to one post op appointment and seem to have a lot of trouble finding the time to go back in for even just a second one! My job is not very flexable but im hoping to get in to see Dr. Pousti withinn the next two weeks just to make sure everything is healing good. I am still amazed at how wasy of a process it is I mean I had surgery two weeks ago and feel great! I do tire more eaisily but that seems to be less and less with each day. The only time I am sore now is first thing in the morning and if I use my muscles too much during the day. They feel pretty soft to me already and I cant tell if I am still swollen since it doesnt feel like it. So far I love the results! Even the stretch marks I had before seem less noticeable. I can't wait for my first shopping trip for something other than clothes that will hide this strap I have to wear.

Recovery

My recovery went pretty smoothly, I didn't do much but rest which helped. The worst part of it for me was being so helpless! I hated every minute of the first week since I had to have help with everything I did due to keeping my arms at my side the whole week. I don't remember much pain just constant soreness. After 5 days I had my first post op appt and it went very well, I was extremely excited to see the results and find out how many cc's were used and what type of profile I had been given since I left that up to Dr. Pousti. I ended up with 616 cc's of silicone in each side and received moderate plus profile. The appt was quick and I was amazed by the results, the only thing that was bothering me was I had a bad rash from either something used in surgery or from being in the surgical bra for that long, anyway the nurse recommended that I wear a cotton tank top or t-shirt under the bra which not only helped with the rash but it was a lot more comfortable! Everything was healing nicely and I was told I could shower with help (also not fun for me since my boyfriend had to pretty much bathe me). It felt really good to be able to shower and wash the bra! after the 5th day I was up and walking a little more, I had to keep reminding myself to take it easy since I tired very easily. A week after the surgery I went shopping for some work clothes that would help hide the strap on the bra, though it was uncomfortable to try things on the staff at the store was nice enough to let my boyfriend come in the dressing room to help me out. I purchased me first bra that day a 36 D!!! Very exciting :) I did the math for the cc's I was given and it came out to about 1.25 pounds per boob! needless to say the extra weight on my chest is going to take a while to get used to lol.
