French Canadian born, Dr. Milind Ambe moved from Montréal, Canada with his family to Southern California when he was two years old. Dr. Ambe was brought up in a family of scientists and musicians, both of which ultimately served to shape his professional career. With all five of his family members being musicians, Dr. Ambe was exposed to the piano at a very early age, and he ultimately went on to become an accomplished concert pianist in his teenage years. Interestingly, as all family members were doctors as well, when it came time for Dr. Ambe to choose a vocation, he ultimately made the choice of pursuing a career in medicine instead of music.

With this background strongly influenced by both science and music, Dr. Ambe was drawn towards a field in Medicine which allowed for a blend of creativity and artistry — Plastic Surgery. Dr. Ambe completed his undergraduate education, medical school, and seven years of intensive surgical training all in Southern California. After completing his Plastic Surgery surgical training at University of California, Irvine, Dr. Ambe followed through with additional fellowship training in aesthetic breast, facial, and body contouring surgery.

He has had his own solo private practice in Plastic Surgery in Newport Beach for over seven years, and he has gained the reputation of being one of the top plastic surgeons in the community in a relatively short period of time. With his artistic background, his reputation for operating with meticulous attention to detail has gained widespread attention. He is known for expertise in all aspects of cosmetic breast, cosmetic facial, and cosmetic body contouring surgery.

Dr. Ambe is Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, a Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, California Society of Plastic Surgeons, and Orange County Society of Plastic Surgeons. Additionally, he has been an Assistant Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at U.C. Irvine since 1995, assisting in the teaching of plastic surgeons in training.

Dr. Ambe is surgeon for The Real Housewives of Orange County. He has been on the show for the past three seasons.

Besides having a continued avid interest in piano, Dr. Ambe is a sports enthusiast, enjoying tennis and skiing.

Is it normal to experience mood swings after ...
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately it does happen that patients can experience mood swings and even depressive feelings after surgery. In my experience this happens within the first two weeks and it completely goes away. If you are experiencing this right now, it should be temporary.:-)

Post Op question, what kind of bras are comfo...
Thank you for your question. The bra you wear post surgery will depend on your surgeon and the type of Breast surgery you have. I would say you will wait to wear your "sexy bras" until a few weeks after surgery. Some surgeons do not allow underwire bras for six weeks, but I have my patients wear underwire bra's very quickly (within first week or two). Therefore the bra choice after surgery will depend on the recommendation of your surgeon. Best of luck to you

Hi good morning, are there any insurance comp...
Thank you for your question. Typically, breast augmentation is not covered by insurance because it is a cosmetic, elective surgery. However, often plastic surgeons offer financing. A good idea is to have a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.

What should I know and how should I best prep...
Thank you for your question. Each plastic surgeon will have and should have their own protocol to help you prepare for breast surgery. Main step is to find a good Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who performs a lot of breast surgery. Make sure you see enough pictures of the look you are wanting from the surgeon you choose. Best of luck to you

Thank you for your question. It is possible that breast augmentation can help correct inverted nipples. It is difficult to say for sure without an in office exam of your breasts, but I would be hopeful that correction is possible for you. I would schedule an appointment an appointment for consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who performs a lot of breast augmentation to get a definitive answer. Best of luck to you!

Post Op question, what kind of bras are comfo...
Thank you for your question. The type of bra you should wear after breast surgery can depend on the type of surgery you had; standard breast augmentation, a breast lift, a breast reduction, etc. For my patients, I like them in a sports bra for only the first 2-3 days, then they go straight into an underwear bra. Depending on the patient, if they have had a lift I like the bra to be a little padded so that they are lifted a little more during their initial healing period. The appearance of the bra is truly up to you, just have your surgeon okay the type of bra first. Best of luck!

If after a year or two, I want my breast impl...
Thank you for your question. Having your breast implants removed is a common procedure. The aesthetic appearance of your breasts after having the implants removed will be based on a few things. How much breast tissue you had to start with, how well the surgeon reshapes/resizes the internal breast pocket to support the new size, is a lift needed, etc. I would suggest consulting with Board Certified Plastic Surgeons who do a lot of implant removal procedures and who are skilled at breast pocket reconstruction.

Best of luck to you.

What will be the best size for me? I am 5'5 ...
Thank you for your question. Determining breast size isn't as simple as height and weight. There are a number of measurements that should be taken into account when sizing implants; the distance from your collarbone to the nipple, the base diameter of the breast, the distance from the inframammary fold to the nipple, and the size of the areola. I would recommend having a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for a full examination and consultation.

Best of luck.

Thank you for your question. Often times sharp pains can occur in or around the nipple area after breast surgery. The pain is simply nerves, this is something that should not be alarming and will go away with time.

I am 5'2" and have a B cup. Are they too sm...
Your breast size is specific to you and to what you are comfortable with. A good guide for your surgeon is your measurements; bra size, width of breast, etc. I always have my patients bring in photos of what they like. In these pictures I am looking at two things, the degree of slope from the neck/chest into the breast (natural, moderate, high profile) and also the distance between the breast (how much cleavage you like).

Thank you for your question and good luck!
